we may as well begin a new thread about this topic, to make this tribe feel a bit more populated. specifically, for an example of a good Godspeed You Black Emperor! song is the 23 min 'Storm'. a very good song.

this next one may sound weird, but it is really good music for the faster paced parts of the book (eg. when there only a couple words per page) - Squarepusher. specifically, the songs i have used have been: 'ez boogie' and 'ultravisitor'.

and, also, thanks for the introduction to Tool. personally i shy away from bands that have lyrics because it makes me feel to lucid. but Tool is actually really good! cheers.

Interesting. We were listening to similar music reading *HoL*...

GY!BE is my current favorite band, and *Storm* just sends shivers up my spine every time I play it. It's maybe the most beautiful track I want to listen to those days; it recalls me strongly Johann Pachelbel's *Canon in D major* (I can't tell why; I'm no music theorist).

I was also listening to Squarepusher's *Do You Know Squarepusher* LP, but that's another IDM band, Arovane (for their *Tides*, *(aer) valid* and *Atol Scrap*) that made the "electronic" score for my reading of *HoL*. I'd also recommend Autechre's *Amber* and, in a different category, This Mortal Coil's *Filigree & Shadow*.

No problem for the Tool intro.
Lyrics end up becoming a larger part of that music.
check out the tool tribe for more info.
The only Godspeed I have is A#F#INFINITY. It's pretty cool, I dig it, but I'm looking for something else.
        Album recomendations would be appreciated.
Do Make Say Think is a cool Godspeed side project you all might dig, although I'm not sure I would use it to read HoL.
        Not quite the right mood.
Nine Inch Nails is another band that comes to mind for good listening while reading.
Havn't ever heard of Squarepusher, but they sound interesting.

Godspeed's album 'Lift Your Tiny Fists like Antennas to Heaven' is a good album.. the song "Storm" is the first track on that album i believe (not sure, i use mp3s mostly).

David Bowies, unreleased version of Outside, is the one. It was rejected by every label so he re recorded everything, yet the original survives. It really is the one.

i've been listening to the poe album while reading it. i purchased it well before i started reading the book and i discovered now much new meaning and depth. actually, they compliment one another well. i imagine it being sung from a grown-up Daisy's point of view.
